- Solitary behavior of gouramy causes in a high diversity rate of gouramy production size per harvest. One way to solves the problem of gouramy production is determining the appropriate stocking density. This study aimed to determine the effect of stocking density and to determine the best stocking density for growth on the white gouramy seed in fifth segment culture (aged 105 days). Gouramy seed used was white gouramy (Osphronemus goramy Lac.) and grew in the fiber tube measuring 55 55 60 cm3 with a completely randomized design with individual replication and three replications. The treatment used stocking density of 100 fish/m3, 200 fish/m3, 300 fish/m3 , and 400 fish/m3. Ad libitum feeding method had done as much as 7-10 grams with a frequency of 2 times/day. Observed data included survival rate, growth rate, harvest size , food conversion ratio, and water quality . The results showed that the solid 100 fish/m3 produced seeds with the lowest diversity. Optimal stocking density for gouramy seed growth in fifth segment culture was between 100 256 fish/m3.
