- Research was aimed to evaluate shoot weight of tea plants from diallel crosses and to select potential individual plants as a source of vegetative propagation. Observation was conducted on shoot weight, peco shoot weight, and peco shoot number of all individual tea plants from diallel crosses of 166 original seeds. Observation was also done on shoot weight characteristic of tea plants from vegetative propagations of 200 plants to determine heritability and repeatability values. All plants under observation have been in cutting year of 4. Observation on shoot weight characteristic was done once in every 10 days with 10 medium pickings. Selected individuals were those with average weights higher than or equal to average weight of all individuals + 2 Standard Deviation (SD). Research demonstrated that from 20 selected cross varieties with criterion average weight + 2 SD, the best cross variety based on its shoot weight characteristics was PSA (cross variety of PS 1 x SA 40) with 3 selected plants. Observation on peco shoots showed that PSA cross variety had highest peco shoot weight, peco shoot number, and peco shoot weight percentage. Meanwhile, from individual selection with criterion average weight + 2 SD, 10 individuals were selected from 166. Heritability and repeatability values obtained in research came under high category were 57. 4 % and 58. 9 %.
