- Dendrobium crumenatumSwartzis one of the orchids that commonly used as a traditional medicinal plant. Secondary metabolites of D. crumenatumpotential as antioxidant and contain phytoestrogen compounds. Herbal used per oralmay cause adverse effects on ventrikulus and ovary. The research waspurposedto study the effect of pseudobulbfiltrate of Dendrobium crumenatumSwartz on ventrikulus and ovaryof rats.This research was a joint research with Sari (2012).Materials used in this research consist of 50% 1mL/150 BW filtrate of pigeon orchidsadministrated per oral, and27 albino rats aged 10-12 weeks. The rats were divided into 9 groups(1 base linegroup, 3 control groups: 5 days treatment (K5), 10 days (K10), and 15 days (K15)), and5 groups of treatment(5 days filtratetreatment(P1), 5 days filtrate treatment-5 days aquades (P10), 5 days filtrate treatment-5days aquades-5 days filtratetreatment(P3), 10 days filtrate treatment(P4), and 15 days filtratetreatment(P5)). The rats were weighedevery 2 days. After the rats were sacrificed, the �organs were weighed. Histological preparationsweremade by paraffin�method, fixed in 10% formalin, slides 6 �m thickand stained withHematoxylin-Eosin and PAS-AB. The main data were scoring of histological structure of ventriculus and the number of ovarian folliclesof rats were analyzed by Independent Sample T-Test and One Way ANOVA.Supporting data consistof the ratio of organ indices were analyzed by Independent Sample T-Test and One Way ANOVA.The results showed that the histologicalstructure of ventriculus was change. They wereleucocyte infiltration, necrosis, increasement of the Goblet cell poliferation, and erosion of the tunica mucosa,also properties of mucin. The histologicalstructure ofovary was change there washidrofik degeneration in slightlevel. Test of the organ index and amountofovarian follicles showed no significant differences. Base on the results it couldbe concluded that the filtrate pseudobulbDendrobium crumenatumSwartz could damage theventriculus and ovaryin slight level.
