  • The research focuses on the correlation between students’ motivation and students’ English achievement (Online) at the sixth semester of English Department IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The students problems in this research are : 1)Some of students are not interested in English materials, 2) Some of students are lazy to study English subject, 3) some of students have weak motivation to study English and 4) some of students have low achievement in English. The purpose of this research is to know how the significant correlation between students’ motivation and students’ English achievement (Online) at the sixth semester of English Department IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The kinds of this research is quantitative research which correlational method. The sum of population from the research are 112 students of English Education Department (TBI) IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The samples used in the research are 28 and choosen randomly by simple random sampling as lottery technique. Then, from 3 classes as the sample. They are 9 students from TBI-1, 10 students from TBI-2, and 9 students from TBI-3. To analyze the data, the researcher used Method Z-Score of Pearsons’ Correlation Formula. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that mean score of variable X was 147 and mean score of variable Y was 3,54, besides the score of rxy was 0,174 and based on interpretation correlation coefficient rxy was lowest category, besides, for the significant correlation which tcount >ttable, namely t count : 4,663 and t table on significant 5% = 2,056 and significant 1% = 2,779. It meant that there was the significant but no correlation between variable X and Y which was said that the validity of the contribution of variable X to variable Y was ―disacceptable‖. In conclusion, there is no significant correlation between students’ motivation and students’ English achievement (Online) at the sixth semester of English Department IAIN Padangsidimpuan
