  • he purpose of this research is to show the use of Note-Taking Pairs Technique can increase writing abilityamong the eighth graders of SMP N 2 Batanghari. The problems in this research are focused on writing ability. The problemsof this research arethe students writing ability of SMP N 2 Batanghari is still low andthe students had low motivationin learning writing. In this research, the researcher uses a classroom action research (CAR) which is done in two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The researcher is conducted collaboratively with an English teacher of SMP N 2 Batanghari. The subjects of this research is 25 students in VIII class of SMP N 2 Batanghari In collecting data, the researcher used test (pre-test, post test 1 and post test 2), observation, documentation and field note. The result of this research shows that Note-Taking Pairs Technique can be used as a teaching technique of writing. It provided by the average mark result of pre-test and post-test show that there were increased mark. At post test I is 67,4 and post test II is 78 it increased 10,6 point. The researcher concluded that there was significant increasing of using Note-Taking Pairs Technique on the writing ability among the eighth graders of SMP N 2 Batnghari. keyword : writing ability, note-taking pairs technique, classroom action reseacrh)
